The good news: Despite the weather still being a bit chilly for the season, my chickens have decided to kick their egg laying into full gear.
The bad news: My chickens have also decided to turn finding their eggs into a game.
Every evening when my youngest two sons get home from school, I hand them a bucket and tell them to go egg hunting. It can be quite an event; my girls like to get creative with it. My kids are probably lost interest in Easter egg hunts early because they get their fill of them every spring and summer.
I'd found the spot beneath the cabin, but I couldn't decide if I'd missed a hiding place or if they weren't laying well. Then I stumbled across a lovely nest in the barn. Of course, now that I've found that, they'll probably lay somewhere else. I can almost hear them snickering about it now...
