This was my first Saffon book, and I honestly have no idea how I came across it. Digging though my Kindle it was there in the mass "TBR" pile. I didn't even read the blurb (I'm sure I did when I bought it) but I just clicked into it and off I went into the blue world Saffron had created.
The best way to describe this book is magnetic. In the beginning our heroin Cleopatra, or Blue to our hero, is working as a maid. She is no timid servant though. Blue hair, blue lipstick, and leather boots exterior matches her tough interior. She has had to fight, being from the wrong side of the tracks, being an orphan, and being bullied in school.
This story does not start out with our characters being pulled together magnetically. They are polarized and the force is pushing them away from each other. There is a fine line between love and hate as the saying goes, and as the story unfolds and Blue and Zach interact more and the polarization begins to fade they begin to see that past actions may have not always been what they seemed.
Zachariah Prince, is not alway a hero in this story. He is downright mean and a real asshole at time. He pushes, he fights, he runs. Any direction that is a move away from the weakness he sees love as - that is the path he takes.
This story does have an element of a Fairy Tale and a Cinderella spin, mixed with a little star crossed lovers. Here is a quote from Blue that perfectly describes their story: "If he's a false prince, then I'm his street Cinderella. I don't need glass slippers or a pretty gown to change our stars. I can do it in my quiet leather boots and my gray uniform."
I give this book 4 stars out of 5. I would recommend you give it a try and venture into the world where Cinderella doesn't wait for the Prince to rescue her and eventually ventures out on her own to save herself - with her blue hair and blue lipstick still intact. Don't worry I wouldn't recommend a book that doesn't have an HEA unless there was a damn good reason!
Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!
