It's been about six months since I started my job at StorageMart. When I arrived, I found out I was the second book-loving Heather in the department. The original, Heather G., puts me to shame. The woman is a voracious reader!
Now that my world is settling down and I'm beginning to find a stability and peace I haven't known in quite a while, I'm determined to rekindle this blog and my writing career.
But I'm also really bad about not getting around to 1/4 of the things I intend to. Which is why I was super happy when Heather G agreed to help me out by popping by once a week to offer up book recommendations... and not just any book recommendations, but spicy ones. Yeah, Heather G's reading tastes are on the naughty side, so be ready!

Think of your favorite chocolate. You’ve eaten it before (okay, many many times) but you still enjoy that slow chocolaty melt on your tongue! That was Cake.
The story line is not anything out of the ordinary. Rock star + regular girl = HEA.
However, the first third of this book is exactly like that slow melting chocolate. The heat and buildup is so divine. I didn’t want to turn off the audio book. I was falling in love with our hero and heroine, and it was decadent.
I’m not going to give away the reason this book is titled “Cake” because it is such a cute reason that has nothing to do with either of them being a baker.
Jake, our rock star, meets Casey at his brother’s wedding where she is a bridesmaid and things become a bit hilarious at times as she maneuvers through the first impressions, first encounters of fan girls, and first interactions of his family.
I will say once the slow burn is over things move quickly. The sex is steamy and hot, but doesn’t overwhelm the story where it becomes only about sex and no substance to keep you reading.
The one and only negative comment I had from this story is that Casey was a little too quick to change her life and goals for Jake. She’s a student when they meet but by the end of the book she’s a graduate with no plans to use her degree. Come on girl, don’t lose yourself completely.
It’s not all frosting and sugar in this story though. Jake has a tragic and horrible past that slowly unfolds as the story goes. The darkness and pain become something they have to overcome together and find a way to define their relationship with more love to drive out the past.
I give it 4.5 naughty stars and recommend you add it to your “to be read/listened to” pile.
Happy reading keep things a little on the naughty side!
