This is not the first Lauren Blakely book that I have read, and it will not be the last! I love the worlds that she creates and the laugh out loud moments that she gives her readers.
This is the story of Arden, who we meet as she is getting dumped by her boyfriend for being too "nice?!" WTF how can a person be too nice? Insert a meet-cute moment where Arden is loosing her cool after her ex walks off leaving her with a romantic picnic, and we meet Gabe.
Gabe is a sexy fireman who has been labeled a womanizer. He gets Arden through her messy picnic disaster and a year later we find he is still FIRMLY in the friend zone. Like he is in concrete and not going anywhere - stuck in the friend zone.
Arden decides that she wants to get rid of the "nice" label and try to find what "naughty" labels she is into. Does she like her hair pulled? What if she wants to answer the door in nothing but a sexy apron - is that so wrong? Why are the older women in the book club talking about all of their exploits in the bedroom, and she has nothing to contribute? She needs a safe way to find out what she likes, and who better to ask than her best friend who can also give her a guy's opinion! She asks Gabe to be her stage acting partner for one week of testing things out, all with their clothes on of course, so as not to ruin their friendship.
Gabe sees this as his opportunity to break out of the friend zone, and finally tell Arden he wants more. Now if only they could both be on the same page of this plan!
This book is funny, sexy, and there are firemen! I give it 4 stars for being a great friends-to-lovers story.
Happy reading - keep things a little on the naughty side!
