How to Date a Douchebag: Falling Hours

This is the second book in this series. Check below for my review on the first book "Studying Hours," but let me give you a spoiler - AMAZING!

I've been trying to not devour this whole series, and this second book did not disappoint. While the series is about guys who are a little on the D-bag side, this hero was more asshole than douche.

We met Zeke Daniels in book one, and just wait until you see him fall. And man does he fall hard. Zeke never really thought about relationships much. He doesn't really have any. His parents are across the globe, his friends can barely stand him thanks to his attitude, and his teammates only tolerate him on the wresting mats.

Violet DeLuca, upon discovering she is supposed to be Zeke's tutor hides in the library instead of speaking up that she was to meet him. Of course it probably would have come out in a stutter, but she can't stop being intimidated by him long enough to find out.

When they are finally thrown together thanks to tutoring, and his coach forcing him to dedicate what little free time he has to giving back, the story of how Zeke finds himself not only in a relationship but discovering that the bigger you are the harder you fall, and if he isn't careful - Violet will not be there after the dust settles.

This 4 star read was just what I wanted from this series - a little angst, a lot of hot guy, a heroin who has a sass, and the HEA that is a must.

So as always happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

This is not my first Misadventures book rec. This series are all standalone books by various authors that give you a chance to try out new to use authors, or like me get a one and done story from one of your favorite authors - Sierra Simone.

If you know anything about Sierra you know you are in for a HOT time between the pages. This story does not disappoint.

Detective Cat Day, aka the "Ice Queen," has the highest case closing rate on the force. Solving cases is all she has time for. She has tried her hand at love, and she got crushed. She learned her lesson, no dating or falling for cops.

Rookie Jace Sutton can't believe his eyes when the Detective walks into his crime scene with her pencil skirt and silk. Now if only he can convince her to ignore the rules, ignore their age gap, and ignore the fact that he is a cop! Sure that is a lot to overcome, but she is worth every fight after their one night together (and WHAT A SCENE Sierra gives us for their first hook up!)

This book was over too quickly, but that is how I feel about all of Sierra's books. Take a chance on this Misadventure and get lost in the world of cops, robbers, and some interesting things with a silk shirt....

Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

Kerrigan Byrne

I know some of you are getting ready to keep scrolling because historical romance isn't your genre but WAIT just one second and maybe consider trying something new in the vast land of smutty goodness.

OK, so historical is not really my main consumption either, but every once in a while I like to add on in to the mix. It's like how when I go to Andy's Frozen Custard I order the same amazing Jitterbug ice cream, but every once in a while I just want to try something different.

This was my first Kerrigan Byrne book, and it was such a great adventure that I already put the second book in my cart to pick up. Her writing sucked me into the world of the Blackheart of Ben More and his "Fairy" and I was more than happy to stay there for every last word.

Farah Mackenzie has been in love with the same boy for 17 years. The boy who rescued her when she was little and gave up his future for her. Her life was severely moved off course when she finds herself waking up on a train being "rescued/kidnapped" by Dorian Blackwell. He says she is in danger, but is he the danger that her heart will not survive?

I can't tell you how much I loved this book. It was an amazing adventure that I could not put down! I give it 5 huge gold stars and suggest you give it a try. Here is a little blurb to give you a sneak peak of what you are in for...

"I was thinking," he said some time later as she paused for a drowsy yawn. "Since ye donna have any family to love anymore, ye could love me..."

Just a little tease, but trust me you should give this book a try and of course - Happy reading - keep things a little on the naughty side!

The Truth About Cowboys

Lisa Renee Jones

I'm not going to lie and tell you that I am a huge fan of the cowboy troupe. I mean a tight pair of wranglers in real life... sure. Who wouldn't appreciate that, right?! But to be honest, this book read came right after I binge watched the TV show Yellowstone. (See photo at the end of the post for a little extra inspiration!)

In this story set in Sweetwater, TX we find Jessica driving in the rain at night eating a bag of chocolate on her way to a cabin to escape life. She just wanted to stop by her apartment to grab a file for work, and the last thing she expected to find was her fiance in bed with his secretary. She doesn't even have the right footwear on to help get her car out of the muddy pothole! She just wants to focus on learning to enjoy being alone and heal.

Along comes either an ax murdered who will end her misery, or a cowboy who will help her get her car unstuck. She didn't expect her hero to be such an... asshole! Who of course turn out to be the owner of the cabin she is staying in.

Jason just wants to move past his former baseball career, save his family ranch, and stay out of the headlines. Hurt by his former girlfriend he has no time or trust for anything outside of his family.

There is a fine line between love and hate and these two test the line. From fire in arguing to fire when they kiss this story Lisa Renee Jones created for us will take you through this wild ride straight to an HEA. Sweeter than Grandma Martha's cookies. (She makes a great addition to this story with her spice and sass)

So even if you aren't a huge fan of cowboy romance, I say give this 3.7 star book a shot. P.S. check out Yellowstone if you want a kind of crazy cowboy story with a little side of romance.

How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours

You know how sometimes you have a book setting on your TBR pile, but it has been hyped up to the point that you are kind of nervous to start it. This was what happened with Sarah Ney's Douchebag series. Everyone talked about how great it was, and it made me hesitate.

I am so glad that I fianlly took an adventure into my first Sara Ney book. Totally worth the wait.. and oh man does she build up the wait in this book. Friends to lovers, hot cocky jock, the conservative girl who isn't looking for a quick hit of the popular guy. MAN it had it all, and the build up to the HEA was amazing. It was like a slow burn that ended with the perfect ending.

Jameson Clark just wants to study in the library and keep up her grades. She is not looking for any distractions and she has no idea why 'Oz' Osborne is shocked she has no idea who he is. Should she?

Oz is balancing work, wrestling, and women. He has no time for commitment and is surprised that Jameson keeps turning him down. What is her cardigan-wearing problem?

This 5 star book starts the Douchebag series and I am more than ready to keep living in the Dbag world Sara has created and fall in love with watching the aplha, cocky men be completely knocked down by the heroins.

Watch for more reviews in this series coming soon, and as always...Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

B.B. Reid
Picture
This was my very first venture into the world of B.B. Reid, and let me tell you... WHAT A RIDE! I am still living in the aftermath of this book. Not in a bad hangover kind of way, but in an I don't want to leave the world of Blackwood Keep.

Four Archer just wants to race her motorcycle and be in control of her own life. Not really a lot to ask for. If only she didn't end up in a race that put her life in danger, and she didn't suddenly find herself being blackmailed and played like a puppet.

The secrets, the lies, the hidden truths of Blackwood Keep are more than Four was ready for. The snobby rich kids are all the same no matter where you come from, but the secrets Four finds herself a part of  are more than she or Ever McNamara could be ready for.

This book is not a stand alone. The second one is soon to follow on my TBR list because I have to find out what is next for Ever, Four, and the characters that BB has created in this world.

This book ends in an HEA-ish. But be warned...it is not a light and fluffy romance. It is dark, dirt, and delicious. (But not TOO dark!) Add this 5 star read to your TBR list.. and hit me up in the comments when you want to tell me how much you loved it!

Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

L.J. Shen
Picture
First, can we talk about how beautiful this cover is? It is even better in paperback form! I am kind of obsessed with the world that L.J. creates. She is one of my favorite authors and I have read all of her backlist. If you are new to the L.J. Shen universe, I would suggest starting with TKT- which is a standalone novel.

Francesca Rossi, is the perfect daughter. She has followed all of the rules that her parents have set for her. Living a sheltered life of boarding schools, charity work, hoarsback riding, and not causing any drama has left her sheltered. Sure her life is mapped out for her, but she is happy that at the masquerade ball her fate will be set when her first kiss is taken by the man she has always loved.

The kiss was stolen, not by the man who loves her, but buy the man set on destroying her family for her fathers sins. Now Francesca find herself in an arranged marriage with the very kiss thief who promises her freedom to step out of the bounds her parents have set, but he has his own cage for her that does not include things like love and children.

"Slowly, and despite my better judgment, I crawled into my future husband's lap. I knew that by doing that, I was raising a white flag. Surrendering to him. Seeking his protection, both from my father and my own internal turmoil. I flew directly into my cage, asking him to lock me inside. Because the beautiful lie was far more desirable than the awful truth..."

To be honest, this is not the first or maybe even the second time that I have read this book and when I need an old favorite story to return to this one is at the top of my list. Click and enjoy this 5 gold star read and fall in love with the Kiss Thief who will also steal your heart.

Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

I Flipping Love You

I know we are all disappointed that one of the books in Helena's Shacking Up Series covers has a shirt on. (Find the other book reviews down below in this series). So how does this fit in with the Mills brothers? This book is actually about Amie's oldest brother Pierce. (Amie is from Hooking Up.) You do get a few appearances from Amie and Lex in this story!

Pierce is spending the summer in the Hamptons with his brother working on flipping houses. He is enjoying all the time he gets to spend working with his hands and creating things instead of stuck in the law office he works at. His family business needed a lawyer, so that is what he became but he has discovered a new passion in house flipping. He also thought that he had discovered the girl who hit his car in the parking lot. She is standing there in the cereal aisle and pretending she has no idea what he is talking about. Until an identical twin walks up and he discovers he was accusing the wrong sister.

Rian has spent her adult life trying to turn her and her twin sister's life around after their parents created a massive scandal and left them to only rely on each other. Rian needs nothing but her sister and the capital to flip houses, and eventually get enough capital to buy the one happy memory they do have back in the house in the Hamptons where they spent their summers with their Grandmother. What she doesn't have time for is the attraction she feels for the guy who she is forced to deal with after her twin sister hit his car and fled the scene. She also doesn't have time for any personal connection makes her open up about her past.

Can Pierce flip houses with his brother and flip the heart of Rian?

This was a great 4 star read from the world of Helena. I recommend you start with the first book in the series, Shacking Up, so you get the full story of all the characters in this book. I also recommend her Pucked series if you are looking for a hot hockey romance. Either way you get amazing HEA's and really, isn't that what we all want in life!

Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

Misadventures with a Rookie

If you have been following along on this magical book reviewing adventure that we have been through, you may have seen previous reviews of books from the Misadventure series. These are all standalone books that all start with "Misadventure of" and I have been working my way through a few of them.

In this book Toni Aleo takes us into the romance hockey world.

Bo St. James (I will save the surprise of what her real name is!) is working hard to be top of her class in college to become a physical therapist, working hard teaching kids skating lessons, and working for the Suns hockey team as an ice girl. She has no room for mistakes or romance after reaching her lowest point in life and working her way back into living.

Gus "the Bus" Persson is ready to prove his rookie season with the Suns will be short lived and he will soon be where he has dreamed to be - the NHL. He has no trouble racking up the goals, or the girls! He is not looking for a commitment, just a good time. The fiery redhead ice girl who is throwing hateful glances his way is making his work harder than he has ever had to to get the girl - or even her name.

Can Gus convince Bo to give him his shot? Can Bo let go of the past enough to trust someone with her heart again?

This book has the funny, the sexy, the sweet moments that you want in one book. With a few dates to the ER thrown in for dramatic flare. Give this 4 gold star book a shot. It's worth being on the TBR list and will give you the HEA, guaranteed!

Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!

The Real Deal

**Bonus review of LB novella included for free in this review. Ha!

It was the perfect storm of Lauren Blakely in my life, and it was a great problem to have. I had been on a real book kick, no e-books allowed in the TBR pile, and it was amazing. I had just started The Real Deal when Lauren released The Engagement Gift, and my friend wanted to do a buddy read. Who was I to say no to double Lauren deals? So I had the paperback Real Deal started and the e-book of Engagement Gift. I usually can't do two books at one time, but it was worth it for these two books.

The Real Deal gave readers a slow burn of amazing chemistry!
April just wants her family to accept her nontraditional job of being a body painter, living in the city, and being happy being single. But with her family reunion coming up the texts, emails, and calls start rolling in if all the nice men in town her family wants her to meet while she is in town. She just needs a buffer to get through the weekend.

Theo has been working to turn his life around. He doesn’t have a squeaky clean past, but that is what happens when you grow up making your own way through life. Now he takes acting gigs for anyone looking for a plus one at parties, family gatherings, or events where you don't want to show up alone.

What starts out as a temporary deal to help April make it through the weekend without getting set up, quickly turns into feelings that are not feeling so temporary or fake. Can April and Theo find their way through the maze of deceptions they have started and end up with something real?

I give this book 4 slow burn golden stars! But wait.. I promised you a two for one special review!

Picture
Lily and her fiancé Finn have it all. Love, devotion, and a crazy hot sex life. He finds a way to make all her fantasies come true. Except the one she hasn’t told him.

When he discovers her interesting browser history he devises a plan to make his engagement gift her secret desires.

This is a quick and hot read and it was over far too quickly, but this 3.5 star book is worth the one click and should come with a fan to help you cool down.

Happy reading- keep things a little on the naughty side!
